OUR STORY

The Story Behind the Spark ❤️

Every Sweet Treat Has a Story… Ours Started in My Mom’s Kitchen.

SugarLove Bakery didn’t begin in a storefront.

It began in my mom’s kitchen with a passion for baking, a dream in my heart, and a desire to create desserts that brought people together.

I spent countless hours baking cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and treats for family, friends, and anyone who trusted me with their celebrations. Before long, word began to spread, and what started as a hobby quickly grew into something much bigger than I ever imagined.

Then life presented me with a crossroads.

At the time, I was a single mom with one little girl. As my daughter prepared to start Pre-K, I knew it was time to make a decision. I could return to work, or I could take a leap of faith and pursue the dream God had quietly been placing on my heart.

God began opening doors that I never could have opened myself.

My daughter started Pre-K in August 2014.

Just one month later, in September 2014, SugarLove Bakery opened its doors for the very first time.

Looking back now, I can clearly see His hand guiding every step. What once felt like one of the biggest leaps of faith in my life became one of God’s greatest blessings.

The Idea That Changed Everything

Some of the biggest ideas come from the most ordinary moments.

When my daughter was about six months old, my mom and I were walking through a street fair in Picayune, Mississippi. As we strolled through the crowds, I noticed people everywhere carrying chicken on a stick.

I looked at my mom and said,

“Wouldn’t it be neat if everyone was walking around with King Cake on a Stick?”

It sounded like a crazy idea.

But I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

For the next five years, I quietly held onto that dream.

In my home kitchen, I baked countless mock versions, experimenting and dreaming about what it could become. Every Mardi Gras season, I’d search Google hoping—and praying—that no one else had brought the idea to life before I was ready.

Deep down, I knew this idea deserved more than a home kitchen launch.

I wanted to introduce it from SugarLove, where we could make it exactly the way I envisioned and share it with as many people as possible.

When we finally introduced King Cake on a Stick, it quickly became one of SugarLove’s signature creations and introduced thousands of new people to our bakery.

Today, seeing people walking through Mardi Gras parades, festivals, weddings, community events, and celebrations with a King Cake on a Stick still makes me smile. Every time I see one, I’m reminded of that simple walk through a little street fair with my baby in a stroller and how God planted a dream long before I ever understood where it would lead.

Built on Faith

SugarLove has always been about more than desserts.

It’s about celebrating people.

It’s about creating memories that last long after the last bite.

Most importantly, it’s about serving others with love.

Everything we do is guided by one simple verse that has become the heartbeat of our bakery.

“Let all that you do be done in love.”
1 Corinthians 16:14

That verse isn’t simply displayed on our wall—it’s woven into everything we do. It reminds us that every customer matters, every celebration is important, and every interaction is an opportunity to love people well.

If you’ve ever noticed the little Spark Heart in our logo, it isn’t there by accident.

That spark represents the light of Christ.

It’s a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness has the power to brighten someone’s day. Whether we’re celebrating a birthday, creating the wedding cake of someone’s dreams, comforting a family during a difficult season, or simply handing a child their favorite cupcake, our prayer is that every person leaves feeling loved, encouraged, and reminded that life itself is worth celebrating.

Our Mission

To celebrate life’s sweetest moments by creating desserts worth gathering around, serving every customer with love, and leaving a little sparkle wherever we go.

Every cake we decorate…

Every cookie we bake…

Every wedding we celebrate…

Every birthday candle that’s blown out…

Every King Cake shared around a table…

Every smile across our counter…

It all points back to one simple purpose…

Helping people celebrate the moments that matter most.

Growing Alongside Our Community

What began in my mom’s kitchen has grown into something I could have never imagined.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of celebrating thousands of birthdays, weddings, baby showers, graduations, anniversaries, holidays, and everyday moments that deserve something sweet.

We’ve been honored to receive awards, share our creations on television, and become known for desserts that have found their way into celebrations across Louisiana and beyond.

Yet the greatest blessing has never been the recognition.

It’s the people.

Some of the little ones who once came in for birthday cupcakes are now coming back for graduation cakes.

Some of the couples who trusted us with their wedding cake now bring in their own children to celebrate birthdays.

Watching families grow alongside SugarLove has been one of the greatest gifts of this journey.

Thank you for allowing us to become part of your family’s traditions.

Fast Forward to Today…

If you had told the version of me baking in my mom’s kitchen that one day SugarLove would become what it is today, I never would have believed you.

The little girl who inspired me to take that leap of faith is now almost grown, and the bakery that started with just the two of us has grown right alongside our family.

Today, SugarLove is no longer run by a single mom and her daughter.

In 2022, God blessed me with another beautiful chapter when I married my wonderful husband, Jeff. Along with gaining an incredible husband, I was blessed with an amazing son, Jeffrey, and our family continued to grow in ways I never could have imagined.

Not long after, our family grew again.

Sometimes family isn’t only the one you’re born into—sometimes it’s the one God lovingly places in your life.

Our daughter, Azaria, became part of our family, and loving her has been one of life’s sweetest blessings.

Today, our home is filled with Jeff, Lilli, Jeffrey, Azaria, and lots of laughter, love, and desserts.

And remember that kitchen where it all began?

Well… my mom finally got it back.

After retiring from her career as a school teacher, she now enjoys spending more time with family, although she still can’t stay away from SugarLove for very long. You’ll often find her stopping by the bakery, making deliveries, running errands, or helping deliver King Cakes during our busiest season.

Some things never change.

She was there at the very beginning, and she’s still cheering us on today.

Looking around the bakery now, I’m reminded every day that God was writing a story so much bigger than I could ever see.

What started with one dream, one little girl, and one borrowed kitchen has become a family, a team, and a bakery that has been blessed to celebrate thousands of life’s sweetest moments.

And we’re just getting started.

Thank You

Thank you for allowing SugarLove to become part of your family’s story.

Whether we’re helping you celebrate a first birthday, the wedding of your dreams, welcoming a new baby, cheering on a graduate, sharing a King Cake during Mardi Gras, or simply making an ordinary Tuesday a little sweeter, we never take for granted that you’ve chosen us to be part of your celebration.

What began in my mom’s kitchen has grown into something far greater than I ever imagined, and I know none of it would have been possible without God’s faithfulness and the incredible support of this community.

Every time you walk through our doors, place an order, recommend us to a friend, or trust us with one of life’s biggest moments, you’re helping write the next chapter of the SugarLove story.

For that, I am forever grateful.

My prayer is that every time you visit SugarLove, you experience more than delicious desserts.

I hope you feel welcomed.

I hope you feel celebrated.

I hope you leave encouraged.

And I hope you’re reminded that every season of life—big or small—is a gift worth celebrating.

Because at SugarLove…

We’re not just baking desserts.

We’re celebrating life’s sweetest moments, one family at a time.

With all my love and gratitude,
